It's a great week for film, people: not only do we have all of the great films below, but it's also time for True/False again, and they have a killer line-up.  You can get tickets still at truefalse.org, but even if you don't, we'll be open the entire weekend for your film rental desires.  And the movies...

New Releases, 16 February 2010

It may sound like we're repeating ourselves, but it is a good week everybody, a good good good week.

BLACK DYNAMITE
Brilliant and hilarious updating of every blaxploitation cliche you could imagine, and then some.  Like Shaft meets The Naked Gun.  (Try not to think about I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka)  Played at Ragtag

COCO BEFORE CHANEL
Audrey Tatou (Toutou? Tattoo?) plays Gabrielle Chanel, who went from orphan to fashion icon and smell inventor.  Great reviews, played at Ragtag

GOOD HAIR
Chris Rock examines different hair types in this witty and charming documentary, which played at a little theater that could, known as Ragtag

HUNGER
Wildly acclaimed film about Irish prisoners on a hunger strike, to protest a nasty situation.  Like many films of quality, played Ragtag.

LAW ABIDING CITIZEN
Thriller starring Gerard Butler, words on his head, and Jamie Foxx.  Did not play at Ragtag, and both parties are better off for it.

HEAD CASES
Great new comedy, starring funny and talented people who make you laugh

SHAUN THE SHEEP:
A WOOLY GOOD TIME
Latest outing from everyone's favorite lamb

CABIN FEVER 2
Romantic comedy, from the makers of "Love is Great"

CHARLIE MURPHY: I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE
Charlie Murphy, best known from Chappelle's Show and being Eddie Murphy's brother, in a hilarious new comedy special

New Releases, 9 February 2010

The films this week are so good that we only got 6--that's some hearty confidence if I've ever seen it...

A SERIOUS MAN
The new Coen brother's film, hilarious and acclaimed, about a man facing crises both metaphysical and also very physical.  Critically acclaimed, played at Ragtag

THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE
Rachel McAdams is married to a guy who travels through time uncontrollably.  Drama ensues.  And box office gold.  From the best-selling novel.

COUPLES RETREAT
Vince Vaughn and that other guy take their wives somewhere islandy to get into some comedic mishaps

BRONSON
I know nothing about it but man, that is an intense poster.  Pretty good reviews

STEPFATHER
Hard to imagine a psychotic familial killer who wears a bow tie.  Wait, no it isn't

FREE STYLE
Corbin Bleu from HIgh School Musical takes his sweet perm (don't dare call it a jheri curl) to the motocross tracks, where he tries to get on the National Team!  Now that's uplifting.
