Too many films for chit chat people (not that we all don't enjoy it), so let's get to business:
DATE NIGHT
A comedy-powerhouse-team-up of this magnitude hasn't occurred since 1975, when Richard Pryor was joined onstage at Radio City Music Hall by the ghost of Charlie Chaplin. Wouldn't want to miss this one too, would you?
DEATH AT A FUNERAL
The Americanized remake of the hilarious British original, which apparently had too many crumpets in it for our audiences.
LOUIE BLUIE
Terry Zwigoff's (CRUMB, GHOST WORLD, both great & both on our shelves) first film, years in the making, about an aging blues musician.
THORN IN THE HEART
Michel Gondry's documentary about his grandmother, in which she turns into a giant yarn monster and chases Bjork around a retirement home.
THE BEACHES OF AGNES
Agnes Varda's great new film, which we've already pimped in this venue but still can't recommend enough
MULTIPLE SARCASMS
Oh look, they made their poster look like a New Yorker cover. That's clever. Oh, I do so hope there's a New Yorker cartoon about it in next week's New Yorkerrrr, that would be darling
MY NAME IS KHAN
Shah Rukh Khan (basically India's Brad Pitt) made a documentary about one of our favorite American pasttimes: racial profiling in airports.
THE JONESES
Biting satire of our way of life! Starring the X-Files guy!
SEA OF DUST
This looks kind of creepy
TAPPED
This hard-hitting documentary promises to do for bottled water what FOOD, INC did for...people not changing their behaviors much.
Have a great week!
